WHAT IS SPELLIT?
Spellit is a private speech, language & literacy practice in North London. We specialise in the treatment of dyslexia, language delay/disorder and articulation problems, by offering assessment, diagnosis, therapy and home programmes. We are a small organisation, local to the community and in touch with schools and their Special Needs Coordinators (SENCO's). We are a dedicated team of experienced professionals and we pride ourselves on achieving effective, long term results for children, whilst supporting
their parents through the process.
WHAT AGE RANGE DO WE WORK WITH?
Typically, we work with children aged between two and sixteen years old. Please note that typically a parent is required to attend each therapy session.
WHAT PROBLEMS DO WE HELP WITH?
We provide specialist therapy and intervention to address the following areas: reading, spelling, handwriting; spoken language and vocabulary, sentence structure and grammar, story and essay writing; understanding the spoken and written word/reading comprehension; articulation and pronunciation, verbal dyspraxia; memory, attention, listening and concentration; interaction, social skills and play; confidence and self esteem; revision and study skills/curriculum support.
WHAT METHODS DO WE USE?
Our methods are groundbreaking within the UK for the treatment of literacy difficulties, with an additional specialist scheme for handwriting. Spellit's core intervention is derived from The Spading Methods, a highly successful, research based, literacy acquisition approach. This is supported by cued articulation and our unique four phase treatment programme. For language difficulties we use a combination of parent-child video feedback techniques (based on the Hanen programme) Makaton signs, plus tailor-made games and activities using up to date resources from well acclaimed educational providers.
